About

An Evening Of Comedy & Magical Fun In Branson, Missouri.

The Hamner Barber Variety Show is a Branson, Missouri based family show attraction appealing to audiences of all ages with an entertaining combination of extraordinary magical illusions, creative comedy, music dance and more. Our production has improved and grown over the years, and we will celebrate our 10th season in 2013 having entertained over half-a-million people during that time.

What makes our show unique among most other attractions in Branson is that we don’t just entertain… we inspire!

The Hamner Barber Variety Show appeals to audiences of all ages and features the award winning illusions of The Hamners as well as the vocal comedy of internationally recognized ventriloquist Jim Barber and a talented cast of singing dancers. As seen on NBC’s “World’s Greatest Magic,” The Hamners produce several enormous exotic birds. Their beautiful Macaws and Cockatoos appear amid flying cards, flaming swords, falling coins and jewels and then perform an incredible flight over and around the audience before gracefully returning to the stage.

Jim Barber has been featured on every major television network and his incredible vocal abilities as a singer and ventriloquist leave everyone talking. His unique characters and original, wholesome comedy has made him an audience favorite here in Branson.

During November and December the shows takes on a holiday theme as The Wings of Christmas takes flight featuring original music and breathtaking illusions that appeal to all ages.

By providing time-tested, original routines that engage our audience on an emotional level, we find that our patrons experience everything from laughter to tears, and leave the theater feeling entertained and inspired at the same time.

The show finale is a magical, multimedia tribute to Veterans that took two years to develop. Many visitors and group travel leaders have described it as the best tribute to Veterans produced anywhere. The routine is not only educational, but the surprise ending leaves our guests standing in wild applause, night after night.

“We have been coming to Branson on bus trips we have organized for several years.  During this time we have seen many shows.

Your tribute to the Vets is, in my opinion, the best Veteran tribute in Branson.”

Nearly every aspect of the show is original, from the magical illusions of The Hamners to the inventive comedic characters of ventriloquist Jim Barber. There is no other show like it.

The co-stars of the Hamner Barber Show were first introduced to Branson as featured acts for other well known entertainers. Glen Campbell invited comedian Jim Barber to perform in his “Glen Campbell’s Goodtime Show” which ran for three years, and The Hamners came to Branson to perform with the Osmond Family. Since then, they were each featured in other Branson shows before combining their talents to create and manage their own production together.

CBS TV’s David Letterman invited Jim Barber to perform on “The Late Show” and introduced him as “one of the most popular acts in Branson, Missouri.” On the NBC TV special “World’s Greatest Magic,” actor John Ritter described the The Hamners as “the most amazing bird act in all of magic.”

Since the show first opened in 2004, Hamner and Barber have volunteered and participated in a wide variety of community service projects, special fund-raising events and unique promotional efforts on behalf of this popular vacation destination known as the “Live Music Show Capital of the World”.

Over the years, the management and staff of the Hamner Barber Theater have volunteered their time, facility and talents to host an annual Veterans assistance show to benefit hundreds of families who are members the local Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 913. For the past 4 years they have hosted a free 3 day Veterans event for Purple Heart Recipients from across the Country and for the past 3 years Hamner and Barber have assisted in the production and promotion of a Branson Gong Show fundraiser for the Branson Senior Center “Meals On Wheels” Program.

The theater has a small, but talented, team of genuinely caring individuals who posses a wide variety of skills that serve the needs of the business. Nearly everyone on staff wears multiple hats when it comes to their job responsibilities, and therefore, each member is crucial to the success or failure of the company as a whole.

As business owners, it is a true pleasure to have a patron or area resident tell us that we have the best employees in town. We hear it often, and are proud of each and every one of them. We appreciate the enthusiasm our employees demonstrate when asked to give a little bit more than their typical job might require. They believe in our product, and have faith that if we think and work together, we can achieve success.

Equating this philosophy to a famous story book, our small business might be described as “The Little Show That Could.” - Jim Barber and Dave Hamner
